Our 103rd Founder’s Day, 15 August 2020

This year we celebrated Founder’s Day differently – with a heritage marker, social media surprises and a virtual concert.

To commemorate Founder’s Day, The Nanyang Family unveiled the Heritage Marker. It is located at the site of the very first Nanyang school campus, which is today Handy Road.

In 1917, the Nanyang Women’s School provided Chinese language education for women and trained female teachers for the primary school.

BOMs and ABOMs helmed the CCE activity leading up to the special day as well as the celebrations proper in the respective classrooms. Students enjoyed making friendship bands and posting, on a padlet link, gratitude messages dedicated to our founders, alumni and members of the Nanyang Family. Students also wore school colours in their hair and enjoyed kahoot! In class, rounding the celebration off with our traditional longevity buns.

Students enjoyed using Instagram effects and the Hongzi Face tattoo filters. These were contributed by our alumni HX Chua.

The Instagram Gifys logo was designed by Jessica Cai (Sec 4).
The Infocomm Club also contributed cute gifs online.

Whatsapp Stickers were introduced and quickly became popular among the school community. The stickers were a result of a sticker design competition which was won by Cai Peishan (Sec 4). Here’s a snapshot of the stickers.

The Virtual Concert was a hit and was streamed live from the auditorium.
